Light & Spaces
My father said I heard the sound of a different drum. He worked in post-production film and television, frequently sharing his knowledge of light and color. This informed and shaped my understanding and view of the world.
When I gaze at a landscape I see how light absorbs and reflects colors, how shapes become forms and interact with the atmosphere. My studies of cloud formations, movements and colors, transitions from form to air, have evolved to paintings from both memory and imagination.
The ocean is a constant source of inspiration – the crashing waves, the rhythmic motion, air, stillness, culminating in compositions of light and space. In contrast to natural forms, the built environment - structures with history and a story to tell - captivates me. The interplay of light and shadow, volume and space continues to inspire a series of drawings and paintings.
Creative expression shapes my practice, driven by purpose, and the rhythmic drumbeat I continue to follow. I marvel at the beauties of life and the inspiration that follows.
